DJ Johnny & the BPM to Perform Live at the M-Shop
DJ Johnny & the BPM will present a high-energy live performance on Sun., April 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Maintenance Shop in the Iowa State Memorial Union.
The concert will feature original brass arrangements of popular songs, including “Mr. Brightside,” “High Hopes,” “You Can Call Me Al,” and more. Blending elements of pop, rock, and jazz, the performance highlights the band’s signature sound and dynamic approach to live music.
The music for this concert began with the goal of securing licensing rights to arrange and perform popular music. Over the past six months, the band carefully selected and arranged songs that resonated with its members, reflected audience favorites, and translated effectively to a brass band setting.
The performance is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the performance runs approximately one hour. Complimentary popcorn and soda will be available.
This event is part of Focus, an organization that grants funds for the support and presentation of new work in visual art, apparel design, writing, theater, dance, and musical performance. Funding for Focus is made possible through Iowa State’s Student Government, and awards are determined by a committee of students, faculty, and staff representing a broad range of the arts.
The Memorial Union is located at 2229 Lincoln Way in Ames on the ISU campus, and paid parking is available in the ramp adjacent to the building.
About DJ Johnny & the BPM DJ Johnny & the BPM is a funk brass band based in Ames, Iowa. Founded as a small ensemble performing pop hits for the Iowa State University community, the group has grown into a dynamic performing act known for its high-energy performances and creative arrangements.
The band has performed at a variety of high-profile events, including Iowa State President David Cook’s inauguration reception, the Cardinal and Gold Gala hosted by the Iowa State Alumni Association, the Department of Music and Theatre Convocation, as well as numerous performances throughout the Ames area.
