Topic — Iowa’s Lost Lichens
Speaker — Jim Colbert
When people of European descent first began settling in Iowa, elk were common in the state. By the late 1800s Iowa had no elk. What other Iowa species have been lost from the state due to human activities since European settlement? The loss of large species like elk is obvious, but what about smaller species?
Attend this presentation and learn about the amazing world of lichens and the species of lichens we’ve very “lichenly” lost from Iowa.
