DESCRIPTION:Do you dream of writing “someday\,” but don’t know where to start? Perhaps you already write\, but you’re stuck. \nJoin this FREE monthly writing workshop for adults\, which provides a safe space for writers of all stages and genres to generate stories inspired by prompts running the gamut from phrases\, poems\, photography\, guest authors and their prompts\, or a piece of artwork. We will read our stories to one another and share only positive feedback. \nThese workshops are inspired by the Amherst Writers & Artists Method\, which believes that everyone is a writer. \nThis workshop is held at the Ames Public Library from 10 to 12 PM upstairs in the PEO Room. \nPresented by the Iowa Center for the Book and Ames Public Library in partnership with the Ames Writers Collective.

DESCRIPTION:The  Heart of Iowa Band will present a Pop and Rock Legends concert at Northminster Presbyterian Church (1416 220th St.\, Ames) on Sat.\, April 25 at 7 p.m.  Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. \nJoin the Heart of Iowa Band for a night dedicated to pop & rock favorites\, featuring music from the 50’s to the 80’s including…\nThe Beatles\, Elvis Presley\, Chicago\, The Mamas and the Papas\, The Doors\, Michael Jackson\, Bon Jovi and more!! \nFree-will Offering Concert\n(Suggested donation of $10 per-person) \nThe purpose of the concert is to raise awareness of our endowment we have in partnership with The Story County Community Foundation. \nA portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to the endowment to fund a college scholarship for an area high school senior who plans to pursue a music education. A ten dollars per person is suggested. \nThe band is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning your donations can be tax deductible.
