SUMMARY:Twelfth Night\, early music ensemble - Ames Town and Gown Chamber Music Association
DESCRIPTION:Twelfth Night was founded in New York City in 2021 by acclaimed early music performers Baroque violinist Rachell Ellen Wong and harpsichordist David Belkovski. \nFor this performance\, they will be joined by Kevin Payne on theorbo. Lutenist Kevin Payne is active as a recitalist\, accompanist\, and continuo player. Recent ensemble work includes performances with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra\, Seattle Symphony\, Twelfth Night\, Blue Heron\, Handel and Haydn Society\, and Bach Collegium San Diego. Festival appearances include Caramoor\, Tanglewood\, Spoleto\, and Newport Classical. Performance venues include Carnegie Hall\, Alice Tully Hall\, the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C.\, the National Concert Hall in Taipei\, Taiwan\, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam\, and the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden\, Germany. His playing has been broadcast on a number of nationally syndicated radio programs including Sunday Baroque and Performance Today.  When not performing\, Kevin enjoys cooking\, reading\, watching Star Trek (P’Tach!) and attempting to delay the inevitable (and often imminent) demise of the houseplants he shares with his wife\, cellist Caroline Nicolas. \nSpecializing in historically informed performance on authentic instruments\, their “Grand Tour” program showcases the expressive power and technical brilliance of groundbreaking composers of the Baroque era with ”zesty\, impeccable playing…[that] doesn’t come along every day’” (New York Classical Review).  \nProgram\n“The Grand Tour”: Biber\, Bach\, Veracini\, Tartini\, Royer\, Leclair\, and Corelli \nFollowing the concert\, you will have the opportunity to meet the artists at our reception. \nVideo\nLearn more about our artists at twelfthnightensemble.com \nLocation\nMartha-Ellen Tye Recital Hall\, Estes Music Hall\, Iowa State University \nGeneral parking is available in the Memorial Union parking ramp\, east of the Music Hall on the Iowa State University campus.
