ACTORS: The Saloonkeeper’s Daughter – Auditions

Audition for a chance to be apart of a timeless classic!

Casting: 7 Men – 18 – 50/60 years old
7 Women – 18 – 50/60 years old

Auditions will include reading from the scrips. In addition, prepare a 1-2 minute Broadway show song to sing with a karaoke track that you will bring. A blue tooth speaker will be provided.
A perusal script will be available at the Ames Public Library.

The Saloonkeeper’s Daughter character information: The following are approximate ages. Actors may be cast to play younger or older.
Red White–proprietor of a western saloon. 40+
Grimy Geezer–an old prospector. 50+ Appears to be 70-80.
Seedy Shlepper–a regular customer. Seedy is a female playing a male. Her true identity is revealed near the end. 35-50
Charity Kindly–the local preacher’s daughter. Ingenue type, but with a longing to break the mold, and kick up her heels. 20s
Blackie White–Red’s weak and wishy-washy son. 25+
Cinnamon Hickey, Sally Forth, and Molly Bolt–over the hill song-and-dance ladies. 45+
Mannly Rasch–a totally despicable villain. 40+
Lily White–Blackie’s sister and Red’s daughter. Typical ingenue. 18+
Parson Kindly–the nicest man in town. 45-60
Rusty Witts–a young, handsome cowboy. 18+
The play within the play characters: These characters will not have lines during the actual show; however, they will have lots of “bits” onstage, AND before the show and at intermission, they will be talking to the audience and interacting with each other. Some lines will be scripted for certain things, but much of their audience interactions will be improvised.
Miss Vanna–the very proper schoolmarm, and excellent sign turner, unless drinking. 30+
1-2 Town drunks, male. Have fun with the audience, and Miss Vanna, and will be used as props and obstacles in the saloon. Age range 40-80.
