Gathering of Artists – Ames Community Arts Council
The next Gathering of Artists, hosted by the Ames Community Arts Council, will be held on Tues., Jan. 28 from 6 – 8 p.m. Join us at the Gallery in the Round in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames (1015 Hyland Ave., Ames) to enjoy the work of artist Mindy Buyck.
Artists and art enthusiasts of all types are invited to the Gatherings, where they can meet local artists, get feedback, get inspired, and have fun. The Gatherings are free and open to all. There will be a short presentation by the artist at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Mindy Buyck says about her work, “I work in photography and alcohol ink. Photography is precise with boundaries governed by the laws of physics. Alcohol ink, on the other hand, is chaotic and loose in nature. In embracing this dichotomy, which to me is very symbolic of the universe as a whole, I find a sense of connection.” The photography and mixed-media exhibit will be on display from Sat., Jan. 18 through Sat., Mar. 15, 2025. The Gallery in the Round is open to visitors during open office/gallery hours (Mon. – Tues., 9 a.m. to noon; Wed. – Thurs., 1 to 4 p.m., or at other times by appointment. To make an appointment, call the Fellowship office at 515-292-5960.
