DESCRIPTION:A Reiman Gardens holiday tradition is back! Visitors of all ages will be enchanted by the RG Express Train from Sat.\, Nov. 8\, 2025\, through Sun.\, Jan. 18\, 2026. This detailed garden scale display was created by Applied Imagination\, an internationally recognized company whose train displays merge botanical design and architecture. The RG Express is one of only 18 North American train displays of this magnitude! Walk past\, around\, and under miniature buildings and bridges built in the likeness of some of Iowa State University’s and Reiman Gardens’ most significant buildings. Don’t miss the magic of the RG Express this holiday season!  \nClosed November 22\, Thanksgiving Day\, Christmas Eve\, Christmas Day\, and New Year’s Day. Open until 8 p.m. on Tues.\, December 2\, 9\, and 16 to allow for special nighttime viewing of the RG Express. The lighted buildings and holiday decorations help the season come alive as the trains travel throughout our indoor conservatory.  \nDue to capacity limits\, the RG Express Train Display is not open during the Winter Wonderscape light show. The RG Express is one of only 18 North American train displays of this magnitude! Walk past\, around\, and under miniature buildings and bridges built in the likeness of some of Iowa State University’s and Reiman Gardens’ most significant buildings. Don’t miss the magic of the RG Express this holiday season!  \nClosed November 22\, Thanksgiving Day\, Christmas Eve\, Christmas Day\, and New Year’s Day. Open until 8 p.m. on Tues.\, December 2\, 9\, and 16 to allow for special nighttime viewing of the RG Express. The lighted buildings and holiday decorations help the season come alive as the trains travel throughout our indoor conservatory.  \nDue to capacity limits\, the RG Express Train Display is not open during the Winter Wonderscape light show. Don’t miss our new and improved features and elements including motion and music. \nWalk through brightly lit tunnels and meander beneath fantasy lights that fall like stars. Wander among giant glowing flowers\, a massive disco ball twirling to music\, and a twenty-foot-wide fountain of lights that dances in color. Step into a whimsical Candy Land–inspired pathway\, filled with sweet surprises and vibrant hues\, then drift toward the firefly lights that flicker and shimmer like magic in the night. Don’t miss the breathtaking giant illuminated snowflake and the wide array of other sparkling wonders that make this light show a feast for the senses. \nReturning from last Year: Roast your own smores! This will be available every evening (weather permitting) near our Hunziker House. \nPlease note: the RG Express Holiday Train Display is not open during Winter Wonderscape due to capacity limitations. \nHow Timed Tickets Work: The above time and date specified is your entry time to Winter Wonderscape. DESCRIPTION:Create your own miniature holiday house!\nSelect from the following workshops:\nSat. Dec. 6\, or Sat. Dec. 13: \n\n9:30 – 10:30 a.m.\n11 a.m. – noon\n1 – 2 p.m.\n\nGet creative with candy as you groove to winter tunes and build your very own festive miniature cottage to display in your home this holiday season. Use graham crackers\, icing\, and other decorative confections in this hands-on workshop\, where our cheerful holiday volunteers will be on hand to help. Sponsorship provided by Carol Pletcher. \nThe Farm House Museum\, the oldest building on the campus of Iowa State University\, is now decked for the holidays with the opening of its latest exhibition\, Yuletide: Glad Tidings. The exhibition will continue through December 18\, 2025. \nThe historic 1860 home\, which has hosted countless holiday gatherings throughout its 165-year history\, welcomes the campus and community to experience the seasonal traditions that have brought students\, faculty\, and staff together for generations. \n“The Farm House Museum has a certain twinkle this time of year\,” said Allison Sheridan\, Farm House Museum curator. “Yuletide: Glad Tidings invites visitors to experience the warmth and beauty of historic holiday traditions in Iowa State’s oldest building. Originally constructed in 1860\, the Farm House Museum first served the university as living quarters for various students\, Iowa State deans\, professors\, and farmhands. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965 as the Knapp-Wilson House\, it honors Seaman A. Knapp\, author of the federal Hatch Act of 1887\, and James F. “Tama Jim” Wilson\, who became U.S. Secretary of Agriculture under Presidents McKinley\, Roosevelt\, and Taft. Following a six-year restoration in the 1970s\, the Farm House Museum became a public museum.
