Families with toddlers are invited for a storytime filled with music, stories, and fun! Mondays and Wednesdays are the same presentation.

Staff from Mary Greeley Medical Center will be available in the Library to talk about inpatient and outpatient mental health services in the Ames community.

America 250: Prairie, Plows, and the People’s College will honor the key people, moments and experiences that have been centered within the Farm House Museum, campus’ first building. This exhibition will explore America’s 250th through 250 primary source objects from honoring the land of the original Indigenous people to the plowing of the prairie, campus development and the fostering of generations of democratic and innovative citizens.

Gather for casual conversations in English. The focus of this group is to help English Language Learners gain confidence and fluency in a comfortable and fun setting. Library staff will pair native and non-native speakers and provide themes, questions, and topics for conversation.

Gather (in person or online) for casual conversations in American Sign Language. Chat in your native language or get comfortable speaking in another language.

Children and their adult partner will explore art together in a relaxed environment. Toddlers will create their own works of art while learning new skills like arranging, gluing, coloring over texture, painting with different objects, moving through transitions and imitating art making processes. Activities will focus on age appropriate, playful, artistic and sensory materials. 

The Workspace will host a Pop-Up Valentine Shop at the Memorial Union, Mon. through Fri., Feb. 9 through 13, 2026. Choose from a variety of adorable succulents planted in pottery from The Workspace, and personalize your plants with charming tiny animal add-ins. University Museums presents "Terra Cotta Conservation in the Art on Campus Collection," an intimate exhibition in the Christian Petersen Art Museum showcasing the innovative technology and conservation science used to preserve Danish-American artist Christian Petersen's iconic terra cotta sculptures across Iowa State University's campus.

Octagonal: The All-Media Show is the annual, juried all-media exhibition at the Octagon Center for the Arts in Ames, IA. This year's exhibit runs through March 14 and includes a reception on Thurs., Jan. 22.

Children of all ages and their grown-ups are invited to this storytime to build listening, language, and literacy skills through music, movement, song and action rhymes. Each week will feature a new theme.
